Fraser Valley Academy of Dance offers superior dance training with specialized focus on classical ballet, contemporary ballet, tap and modern theatre dance. With an exceptional staff primarily of former professional dancers and highly qualified internationally-trained teachers, FVAD provides the base necessary to enter a professional career in the dance world.
Artistic Director John C. Carney trained full-time at the Royal Ballet School in London, England, before beginning a 15-year career as a professional dancer touring the world. He was offered a position with English National Ballet at 17 years old while still a student at the Royal Ballet School. After many years performing with ENB, he moved to contemporary ballet with Rambert Dance Company. He has taught and choreographed for major international schools including the Royal Ballet School and Rambert Academy.
The Classical Ballet School offers exceptional training in Russian Vaganova and Royal Ballet British ballet styles, as well as Royal Academy of Dance syllabus classes.
The Musical Theatre school opened in 2015 to enable students to sing, dance and act their way onto the stage in annual musicals.
The Pre-Professional Academy provides advanced training for the most serious students who attend academic school in the mornings and train 25 hours per week at FVAD.
Summertime Dance programs provide students with the essential performance and training throughout summer.
The International Student Program with Academy Homestay opened FVAD's advanced training to international students in 2016.
