DESCRIPTION:Three 1.5 hour sessions. \n\nApril 27th\, 28th & 29th \n\n2:00PM - 3:30PM\n\n\n\nPresented by: Deb McClelland\n\nOnBoard Training - Board Training Specialist \n\n \n\nThis private workshop series is designed to inform\, educate and assist both volunteer board members and staff about governance best practices and the effective operation of any board.\n\nSome of the strategies and best practices you will learn in this dynamic and highly engaging workshop include:\n\n\n\nThe Workshop\n\nThe following will be explored in a workshop with your board of directors and not-for-profit members:\n\n\n	Roles and Responsibilities of the Board\n	What are the roles of a director and of the board of directors? We will discuss proper organizational structure as well as the principles of effective governance. Also\, the big question regarding which committees every board should have will be answered.\n	The 7 Key Elements of Good Governance\n	Deb will give an overview of seven things that every board needs to have in place in order to govern properly.\n	Tips and Resources\n\n\nThroughout the workshop\, Deb refers to practical templates\, exercises\, and examples that she has created in her 35+ years of board experience. \n\n\n\nDeb has studied board governance for over twenty years\, primarily through The Governance Group based in Vancouver. She has served on many boards\, including national and provincial boards\, for over thirty-five years.\n\nDeb also worked at the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce for nineteen years\, supporting her board of directors as they transitioned to a solid governance model.\n\n\n\nWithin all these experiences\, Deb came to realize that governance\, when done right\, could be fun and easy. That is why she has developed governance workshops\,\n\nincluding a streamlined strategic planning process\, that are highly effective\, engaging and inspiring.  Deb has been recognized as Executive of the Year and Chamber of the Year\n\nby her provincial network and Executive of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada.
