We all have stories. If you’re a senior with a story come to Silver Threads Storytelling event at Mission Community Library on Saturday June 11 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The library invites all seniors to participate in this open mic event and share their own, true tales. While the event features the more seasoned voices in our community, it is open to anyone who likes to hear a good yarn. No registration is required.
“The event is based on The Flame storytelling events in Vancouver and The Moth storytelling series in the USA,” says librarian Chris Conroy. “Sometimes we forget the rich stories the senior members of our communities have. In honour of them we decided to feature their stories at this event.” The stories must be short, no longer than ten minutes. Stories should be true and have happened to you but can be on any topic, funny, sad, poignant – anything.
June is Seniors Month and the Mission Library is celebrating those members of our community. Besides the Silver Threads Storytelling event, the library is also hosting a Seniors Tea on Thursday June 23. Join us from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. for a tea and treats social.
