THE LADY is an inspiring tale of a true heroine of our time, Burmese activist and Nobel Peace Prizewinner, Aung San Suu Kyi. Married and living in Oxford in 1988 she returns to her native Burma to assist her aging mother. During a change of government the charismatic and politically engaged Suu Kyi quickly finds herself at the head of the National League for Democracy. When her party wins the general election in 1990 a military junta places her under house arrest where she remains for the next 15 years. Both epic and intimate, THE LADY celebrates the struggle of a people and the difference a single individual can make in the world.
