It has been a challenging year and at times, we weren't sure how or if we would even be able to host the 36th Annual Candlelight Parade. However, despite how different it might look this year, we want to assure you that the parade will go on.
With that, it won't be your typical parade but will more so take the format of a 'reverse parade.' Rather than having 15,000 spectators on First Ave while floats move through, floats will be stationary displays while spectators move in vehicles, through a closed parade course at the Mission Raceway Park. Other event features beyond the 70 spectacular light displays from local businesses and NFP organizations include a COVID-friendly Santa Photo (you don't want to miss your chance for this memorable keepsake), holiday music, and public voting for the best displays.
To follow public health protocols, there will be only 50 cars allowed inside the parade course per time slot, and the event will be following all public health guidelines. With that, it will be a ticketed event that will require guests to purchase their tickets online beforehand. This will ensure we don't go over the 50 car limit, avoid traffic congestion in the area from day-of ticket sales, allow for a no physical contact transaction while being able to easily collect information for contact tracing beforehand, and allow us to combat the additional and new costs associated with the new event format and health requirements.
Additionally, partial proceeds from tickets will be going towards the Chamber Bursary and with the assistance of local charities, up to 50 tickets will be given out for free to those who may not be able to afford to go otherwise.
